Once a major archaeological site, Altun Ha is the home of Belize’s famous Jade Head and is close in proximity to Belize City.
The site covers an area of about 5 miles and the ruins of the structures had their stones reused for residential construction of the agricultural village of Rockstone Pond in modern times.
The largest of Altun Ha’s temple is the “Temple of the Masonry Altars” which is 54 feet high and the drawing of this structure is the official logo of Belize’s leading brand of beer “Belkin”.
