Beach Life in Belize

Beach Life in Belize

If you crave rest and relaxation under a coconut palm as the waves gently caress the sand at your feet, there are beach side locations on the mainland and on the islands offering your preferred level of privacy or interactivity.

The white sand beaches of the offshore islands offer seaside restaurants, beach bars anddive shops and equipment rental in the larger island communities such as San Pedro Town, Caye Caulker. On these islands and further up and down the beach from these communities are individual resorts with a variety of beach facilities.

On the mainland, the golden sand beaches off the communities of Belize City, Hopkinsand Dangriga are quiet, unmanaged beaches with food and drinks, and limited marine sport services a block or two from the beach.

Placencia offers the only white sand beaches on mainland Belize and the village at the tip of the peninsula is a hive of beach and water sport activities with a quieter ambiance in the upscale resorts further up the peninsula.

Many of the other inhabited islands are privately owned with a single or few resorts onsite so advance notice of your arrival is often needed so that you can be accommodated. Only a few of these islands, primarily in southern Belize are directly atop the Barrier reef with snorkeling right off the beach.
