Air Canada to Begin Flying to Belize This Week

Air Canada, the largest airline in Canada and the eighth-largest airline in the world, will begin flying to Belize this week for the first time in the company’s history.

Beginning on December 15, 2017, Air Canada will be offering weekly non-stop flights to Belize City (BZE) from its hub at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport (YYZ). The flights will continue throughout the 2017/18 winter season, ending on April 13, 2018.

The non-stop flight from Toronto to Belize lasts approximately five and a half hours. Canadians with a valid passport do not require a visa to enter Belize. Approximately 7% of all visitors to Belize are Canadians, and travel experts expect that this will climb once Air Canada begins its new route.

Canadians wishing to warm up this winter and enjoy the fantastic sights in Belize have a wide range of adventure options. The mainland is primarily covered by jungle and tropical rainforest, although Belize also has mountains, fertile valleys, savannah, wetlands, and an extensive broadleaf forest in the west.

The pristine nature of Belize’s mainland is one of its main attractions. Visitors can explore animal refuges and wilderness sanctuaries to see some of the exotic wildlife up close and personal, including tapirs, giant iguanas, black howler monkeys, giant harpy eagles, and jaguars.

Other exciting adventure options on the mainland include hiking through the jungle, bird watching, swimming at the base of a waterfall (Belize has the tallest waterfalls in Central America), spelunking (cave exploration), zip lining through the canopy, horseback riding, canoeing, and cave tubing, a uniquely Belizean activity that involves floating down underground rivers aboard an inflatable inner tube.

Offshore, Belize has hundreds of islands set along a vast barrier reef, second only in size to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. The islands and atolls on the reef make for world-class fishing, sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and other activities like sea kayaking, windsurfing, and stand-up paddling.

For over 30 years, Island Expeditions has been crafting unforgettable adventure trips in Belize for travelers. Founded by three adventurers who wanted to share Belize’s amazing natural beauty with fellow travelers, Island Expeditions is the country’s premier adventure travel organizer and outfitter.

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing trip to the islands or a week-long adventure deep into the heart of the jungle, Island Expeditions is the name to trust. Over 22,000 people have explored Belize with Island Expeditions, many of them returning to Belize annually to learn more about this amazing country.
