Answers To Your Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can Belizean citizens travel to Belize?

Returning citizens and legal residents of Belize can travel home via airport repatriation. Currently, this option is only available to these groups. They may re-enter the country through the Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE). Plans have been made to reopen the airport for leisure travel on October 1, 2020.

Can tourists and foreign nationals travel to Belize?

Belize will reopen for tourists and foreign nationals on October 1, 2020. They may enter the country on either commercial or private chartered flights via the Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE). This will be the only allowed entry point at that time.

Are there any travel bans on specific countries?

Only visitors from approved countries will be allowed into Belize. The Government of Belize will issue a list of such nations. This list will be re-evaluated and updated regularly based on changing health conditions.

Are COVID-19 tests required to enter Belize?

Yes. Everyone who wishes to enter Belize must provide a negative test result. This includes Belizean citizens and legal residents as well as tourists, and must be provided within the 72-hour window prior to their arrival into the country.

What happens if I don’t have a negative test upon arrival?

If an arriving passenger, whether citizen, resident, or foreign national, does not provide proof of negative test results within 72 hours prior to arrival, they will be immediately required (at their own cost) to take a rapid test given by Belize’s Ministry of Health at the airport. A positive test result for Covid-19 will require the traveler to be quarantined at a site approved by the Government of Belize. The quarantine period will be determined by Belize’s Ministry of Health and all expenses incurred must be paid by the traveler in question.
