New Miss San Pedro Selected, Naiely Puc

Four young ladies was all it took to ignite this year’s Miss San Pedro Pageant which took place on Saturday, August 1, 2012. Naiely Puc, Darcie Zepeda, Ashley Rhaburn and Adriana Haylock took the stage by storm and put on an impressive show of pageantry at Central Park, venue for this year’s pageant. At event’s end, Miss Naiely Puc, sponsored by Castillo’s Hardware, was selected as Miss San Pedro 2012.

Under the theme, “Beauty of today reflecting Maya splendor of yesterday”, the San Pedro Town Council and the Miss San Pedro Pageant Committee put on a great show filled with music, dance and culture. With a stage spectacularly transformed into a Maya temple, the pageant took on the Maya 2012 feel with the four contestants showcasing gorgeous cultural costumes which represented significant Maya Gods; it was definitely the highlight of the evening.

The contestants opened the show with a dance presentation along with Miss San Pedro 2011, Yakarelis Hernandez, and competed in three segments which included the cultural costumes, swimwear and evening gown competitions. It was during the question and answer segment that Miss Naiely Puc separated from the pack and solidified her win for the crown.

Selected as first runner up was Miss Adriana Haylock with Miss Congeniality awarded to Darcie Zepeda and Miss Photogenic to Dashley Rhaburn. Entertainment in between the competition segments was provided by the San Pedro Dance Company, Bailando Culturas from Orange Walk and Mad Skills Dancers from Belize City, with performances by talented local singers Natalie Arceo and Elina Palma, including Ruben Francois on the electronic keyboard. The excellent hosts of the pageant were Reef Radio’s Eiden Salazar and Wilema Alamilla Gonzalez, Miss San San Pedro 1989.

Coronation of the new Miss San Pedro takes place during the September 10th celebrations/parade this coming long holiday weekend.
