“We ate almost every dinner here”

We came for the seafood and boy did we eat the best. It was truly great. We ate nearly every dinner here and our continental fresh fruit breakfast was perfect for us. Good rum punch, it became our drink of choice. It always hit the spot!

“Delightful Dining Experience in Belize”

The experience begins with their water taxi pick-up from the closest dock to your resort stay. The atmosphere is barefoot-elegance in the restaurant which is 2 stories. Try and get a 2nd story table, the view is so nice. We are seafood buffs, so of course indulged while in Belize. I had the special that night which was a red snapper with lemon sauce of some sort & asparagus – fish was done just right – nice a delicate. We also had the seafood pot which included fish, lobster (which is seasonal), shrimp, & scallops if i recall correctly. We were not disappointed. They had a nice wine list – with some African wines, which you don’t see too often. Even indulged in a dessert!

I returned for lunch a few days later and tried the seafood burrito which was overloaded with seafood to my happy surprise! It was too big to eat like a burrito! Only wish they had a better salsa.Definitely a great spot to dine while vacationing in Portofino. Especially couples, looking for something romantic.

“Consistently Good, Outstanding Service”

Being on the north end of Ambergris Caye can leave one with just a few dining experiences unless you take a water taxi or ride a bike along the beach to San Pedro (ok we did walk the 6 miles one time). However Portofino Restaurant has been a consistent performer for us these past two weeks. For lunch we’ve enjoyed the various fish sandwich preparations all served on the really wonderful fresh bread made on site every morning. We also enjoyed some amazing beef nachos..I know that sounds weird but we’ve had them twice and the fresh veggie ingredients were very good. Dinner has included grilled lobster, stuffed grouper, grilled and blackened snapper and a variety of chefs amusee which were a great treat before the entree. The wine selection is quite good and we’ve enjoyed several bottles of South African Cabernet from the Nederburg winery. Rafael, Roy, and others are outstanding waiters and Steve in the kitchen puts his heart in the meal. If you’re in San Pedro be sure to visit this beautiful resort and restaurant. If you’re north on the island, be glad it’s close by.

“The place to go for a vegetarian meal in San Pedro!”

San Pedro is amazing, unless you need a veggie meal. Portofino will take care of you. They are one of the few places we found who offered a unique veggie menu (upon request). The setting is also quite stunning . Wonderful staff. Tasty food. I highly recommend it. You might even get to see someone propose–we did!
