Belize Tourism Board (BTB), alongside the Cayo West Area Representative Jorge Espat and the San Jose Succotz Village Council, has inaugurated the San Jose Succotz Welcome Center, a modern facility designed to enhance tourism and community activities in the region.

The 5,000-square-foot facility, officially opened on Dec. 14, features amenities including a staging area, food distribution zone, restrooms, a playground, and a pergola. It is strategically located near the Xunantunich Archaeological Reserve, a key tourism site in western Belize.
Nicole Usher Solano, CEO in the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, said the center underscores the government’s commitment to sustainable tourism. “This facility enhances the visitor experience while fostering community pride,” Solano said during the opening ceremony.

Espat highlighted the partnership that brought the project to fruition, noting its role in driving local development. The event included speeches by local leaders, including Dr. Amin Hegar, Chairman of Cayo West, and a historical presentation by resident historian Francisco Torres.
The Welcome Center is expected to bolster local tourism and support the economy, while preserving Belize’s cultural heritage, officials said.
