Uniting the East Indian community from all corners of Belize and the diaspora, this historic cultural event embodies the essence of Southern Belize, the birthplace of the Yellow Ginger Festival. The festival, known for its celebration of Indian culture, invites all Belizeans to join the vibrant and spirited celebrations.
A culinary delight awaits festival-goers with a variety of tasty Indian cuisines, featuring savory chutney, delightful Choka, and traditional Takari. This year, the festival introduces a novel “chutney making” contest, which encourages participants to use in-season fruits and vegetables to create mouthwatering chutneys.
The Yellow Ginger Festival offers more than just a feast for the palate. Festival attendees can learn about traditional practices from demonstrations by elders, such as the processing of yellow ginger root and the use of an Indian grater for coconut husking.
This cultural event promises an exciting day filled with dance, poetry, and music, all with a distinctive East Indian flair.
