The Government of Belize has unveiled new measures to make travel more convenient and affordable for Mexican visitors, further strengthening ties with its northern neighbor and promoting tourism in the region.
Effective October 26, 2024, amendments to the Border Management Agency (Fees) Regulations No. 138 of 2024 have introduced reduced or waived departure fees for Mexican nationals, depending on their state of residence and the length of their stay in Belize.

Residents of Othon P. Blanco, Quintana Roo, can now enjoy free departure fees, regardless of how long they stay. Visitors from Campeche, Yucatan, Tabasco, Chiapas, and Quintana Roo (excluding Othon P. Blanco) will benefit from reduced fees for stays of up to seven days, while standard fees apply for longer visits. Travelers from other Mexican states will pay minimal fees for short visits of less than two days, with standard fees for extended stays.
These changes highlight Belize’s dedication to fostering closer regional relationships and encouraging more Mexican travelers to discover the country’s stunning natural beauty, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality.
The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) praised the initiative, stating, “This step makes Belize more accessible to our neighbors, inviting them to explore all the wonders our country has to offer while supporting the growth of regional tourism.”
As tourism remains a cornerstone of Belize’s economy, the new incentives are expected to attract more visitors and enhance the country’s position as a must-visit destination for Mexican travelers.
