The Belize Zoo, known as “The Best Little Zoo in the World,” will implement new entrance fees starting December 1, 2024, following a decade-long freeze. This increase reflects insights from a recent willingness-to-pay survey, which highlighted the need to address rising operational costs while enhancing visitor experience and conservation support.
Since its last fee adjustment in 2011, the zoo’s operational expenses have surged by approximately 85%, yet ticket prices have remained unchanged. This new fee structure, charging BZD 10 for resident adults, BZD 2 for resident children, BZD 40 for non-resident adults, and BZD 10 for non-resident children, aligns with The Belize Zoo’s commitment to sustainability and improved facilities.
In a statement, zoo officials emphasized that these adjustments are vital for maintaining natural habitats, providing high-quality educational experiences, and continuing the care of over 200 native animals. The zoo’s unwavering dedication to wildlife conservation, education, and environmental stewardship ensures that every visitor’s contribution directly supports these efforts.
For locals and tourists alike, the Belize Zoo remains a must-visit destination, offering an immersive look into the diverse wildlife of Belize while underscoring the importance of environmental conservation.
