Escape Winter To These Sun, Sand And Sea Hotspots In Belize

Brrr! Winter is here! It’s time for a well deserved vacation and nothing is better than sun, sand and sea.

Sunrise in Ambergris Caye, Belize

San Pedro, Ambergris Caye

I honestly can’t pinpoint exactly what it is about beach destinations that make for perfect travel. I can imagine that women love it because they can work on the perfect tan as their friends get pale in the cold weather. And men enjoy all water sports such as scuba diving, kayaking and fishing. Wait, I’m generalizing, sometimes it’s the other way around – women enjoy being active sea adventurers as the men bask under the sun enjoying rum drinks. Beach life is the best.

The question is: have you considered Belize for a warm-weather getaway? Having the largest barrier reef in the western hemisphere, gorgeous climate, charming cultures and world class resorts, it’s well worth your consideration.

Taking advantage of my inside knowledge, I’ve drafted up three of the best beach hot spots that will ensure that you have a great time in Belize. I challenge you to take a break from the cold and journey to paradise this winter.

Ambergris Caye

The Phoenix Resort in Ambergris Caye, Belize

The Phoenix Resort

The Phoenix Resort is one of the best hotels in Ambergris Caye. With deluxe condo style accommodations, you are sure to feel at home. It is ideally located smack downtown amidst the vibrant town of San Pedro which makes it perfect to witness Belizean lifestyle. Onsite amenities include a top-notch restaurant, spa, pool and a concierge who can book all your adventure activities such as diving the Great Blue Hole or reef fishing. And for the extra adventurous, if you desire to travel back in time to unveil the mysteries of ancient Maya underworld; a day trip to Belize’s ATM cave can also be arranged.

The Beach in Placencia

Chabil Mar Beachfront

Placencia boasts the best beaches in Belize and Chabil Mar Villas gives you 400 feet of private beachfront. Offering tastefully decorated villas, this resort is beautifully landscaped and has breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. This spot is perfect for couples as it provides a quaint and romantic atmosphere. If you’re looking for lively surroundings, Placencia village is in walking distance and offers superb restaurants and a fun nightlife. If you visit during March – June you can ask to go swimming with Whale Sharks.

Belize treehouse accommodation at Hamanasi Resort

Treehouse at Hamanasi Resort

One of the things that Hamanasi does well is cater to adventure enthusiasts, specifically those who love being underwater. Aside from being one of Belize’s best diving resorts, their location allows guests to be introduced to a fascinating culture unique to Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. The beach side village of Hopkins is teeming with friendly Garinagu people. After your tours and adventures, it’s recommended that you wander around town to take in the colorful Garifuna language, sample their exquisite food and rock to the sounds of their beating drums.

There you have it. My top picks for Belize beach escapes. Try any of the three, or try them all, and I am certain you won’t be disappointed.
