ITZ’ANA RESORT & RESIDENCES IN BELIZE BREAKS GROUND
PLACENCIA, BELIZE (Nov. 19, 2015) – The Foundry Collective, a dynamic resort and residential development team broke ground on its latest property, Itz’ana Resort and Residences, on November 18 in Placencia, Belize. The ceremonial groundbreaking took place at the construction site and was attended by the developers, the project team, as well as key government figures and members of Belize’s business community. With the 20-room resort set to open in December of 2016, the developers will also deliver 22 villas and 17 of the recently released one-bedroom loft cottages through 2017. The developers are also delighted to announce that over 50% of the villas are now under contract.
“When we came to Belize 10 years ago, we knew that that it would become a world-class destination because of its natural beauty, culture and proximity to major markets,” says developer Colin Hannan. “We have built a world-class development team, and believe that the tremendous pace of sales is indicative of the high level of interest in what is fast becoming the next big destination in the region.”
This groundbreaking celebration marked the start of full construction for the property’s resort, which includes the heart of Itz’ana Resort & Residences—the Great House, where Limilia Restaurant, a private Rum Room and an open rooftop deck will be located. The project is designed by Boston-based architect Roberto de Oliveira Castro and will be outfitted by famed New York interior designer, Samuel Amoia.
“Our buyers have been global travelers that have an appreciation for quality and are seeking a strong return on their investment,” says Bryant McClain, Director of Sales for the project. “They are cultural explorers that want to create family memories like diving the reef, tubing down rivers, and climbing ancient ruins but they also demand high service levels and expert management.”
The project is being developed in partnership with regional businessman Fernando Paiz, who is currently building mixed-use projects that include five Hyatt and three La Quinta Hotels across five countries in Central America.
“I’ve been coming to Placencia since the 1970s when I used to kayak along the reef and camp on the islands,” says Paiz. “This region of Belize is one of the most beautiful and ecologically diverse places I’ve ever visited. It’s exciting to share this treasure with the world.”
Set in the seaside village of Placencia, Belize, Itz’ana is nestled between the sea and the lagoon, and is the newest luxury lifestyle offering in the Caribbean. Named after the Mayan god of day and night, Itz’ana Residences vary in size from 1,000-5,000 square feet, with opening prices ranging from $295,000 to over $1 million (USD).
