JetBlue Airlines, New York’s Hometown Airline®, is expanding its horizons by introducing the first-ever nonstop service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Belize’s Phillip S.W. Goldson International Airport. This exciting announcement was made today in partnership with the Belize Tourism Board (BTB).
New York marks the 11th U.S. city that will offer nonstop service to the Central American country. This pioneering development is expected to further strengthen ties between the U.S. and Belize. JetBlue plans to operate year-round roundtrip flights three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The inaugural flight is scheduled to take off on December 6, 2023.
Anthony Mahler, Belize’s Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, expressed his enthusiasm over the new partnership. “We’re excited for JetBlue to join the family of airline partners offering nonstop flight options to Belize. This is a huge win for our ongoing efforts to make Belize accessible to more U.S. visitors, considering JFK is one of the biggest air travel hubs for tens of millions of travelers,” he said.
Meanwhile, David Jehn, Vice President of Network Planning and Partnerships at JetBlue, reiterated the airline’s commitment to delivering exceptional travel experiences and connecting customers to unique destinations. He said, “We look forward to not only introducing our low fares and great service to Belize customers but also providing access to all the cities we serve from New York.”
As a country with rich biodiversity, Belize has been attracting a significant number of American tourists. As of April 2023, U.S. tourists accounted for more than 68% of all overnight arrivals to Belize. This number is expected to rise following the introduction of JetBlue’s nonstop service.
This scenic country, home to the largest Barrier Reef in the Northern and Western Hemispheres, is unique with its vibrant cultures, intriguing Maya caves, pristine Caribbean waters, lush jungles, wildlife reserves, and a host of other natural attractions. Notably, Belize is the only English-speaking country in the region where the U.S. dollar is widely accepted, making it an attractive vacation destination for American tourists.
This new nonstop service is likely to further boost the dynamic growth of the Belize tourism industry and enhance the country’s appeal as an enchanting vacation destination. For more information about Belize and its offerings, visit travelbelize.org.
