The Blue Hole Unravels the Mystery of the Mayan Demise

Belize has become one of the most happening tourist spots in recent years due to its beautiful beaches, serene surroundings and nature bursting from left, right and center. The Mystery of the Mayan Civilization

In the quest to find more about the ancient Mayan civilization that inhabited Northern Belize, scientists have recently made new discoveries.

The Blue Hole, an underwater cave in Belize, has given some great insights about the centuries old Mayan Civilization. From the minerals found in the Blue Hole, scientists have gotten a step closer to find the reasons for the demise of the Mayan civilization – a century long drought.

The evidence towards a long drought in the Mayan region due to which the civilization witnessed a demise, has become stronger over the years due to new discoveries and researches by scientists, historians and archeologists. New discoveries about the civilization are likely to make the Mayan region more interesting for tourists and those who are interested in studying history and civilizations.

Recent researches suggest that it was due to the long occurring drought caused by decrease in rainfalls in the region that caused the death of this ancient civilization. The Mayan ruins are one of the most renowned and popular tourist spots in Belize that attract millions of people from around the globe; Americans, British, Asians, Indians and more.

Current Day Belize

While the ancient civilization is long gone, the current day Belize is buzzing with tourists all year round. With a booming economy, low or no capital taxes and easy communication (thanks to English being their national language), and amazing fresh food, this country gives benefits to both tourists, expats and investors.

Today, the country is on its way to become one of the hottest global tourist destinations and that’s exactly why investors and businesspersons have started to inject their future investments in Belize. The steady rise in homes, lots and properties for sale in Belize is a witness to the booming economy.

The Mayan ruins are also one of the must see places for tourists in Belize. While the closest one is only a few kilometers from the main Belize City, there are some ruins that are still far off. Tourists need at least a day trip to visit all of the ruins and historic sites.

On the other hand, the more modern Belize has a flourishing night life and an amazing variety of outdoor activities on the sea such as snorkeling, sky diving, scuba diving, fishing, kitesurfing and more. Whether you’re 18 or 80 years old, Belize has something or the other for you.
