Prince William and his wife Kate will be spending the first of their three-night vacation in Belize, following their ceremonial landing at the Phillip Goldson International Airport earlier yesterday evening.
While it is still unknown where the Royal couple is staying, they departed in a private helicopter that airlifted them out of mainland Belize City just after 5:00 p.m. The couple is expected to unwind and prepare for today’s festivities in the South of Belize. These include a trip to a local cocoa farm and a Garifuna festival that will be held in Hopkins Village.
The couple’s departure was preceded by a brief visit with Prime Minister John Briceno and his wife Rosanna Briceno at the Laing Building in Belize City. The Royal couple landed just after 3:30 p.m on a non-stop flight from the United Kingdom, via the Royal Air Force’s VIP Airbus KC2 Voyager (A330-243MRTT).

The Dukes and Duchess ceremonial visit to Belize was marked by a red carpet rollout and a magnificent display of flair and talents by members of the Belize Defence Force. The performance, though brief included the bands’ rendition of the Belize National Anthem and Britain’s. That was complemented by several gun salutes that were fired by miniature canons that were positioned on the tarmac.
Following the playing of the respective national anthems, Prince William carried out the ceremonial inspection of the guards, who stood erect, under the soft glow of the evening sun.
The Prince and his wife were greeted by Belize’s Governor General H.E Froyla Tzalam, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Government. After a brief exchange, the couple was ushered into a waiting Range Rover, that led a mini motorcade to the Laing Building.
Yesterday’s activities marked the official kickoff of the Royal Tour to the Caribbean, in commemoration of the Queen’s 70th year on the throne.
