In a strategic move to boost the tourism sector and strengthen trade relationships, the Belize Tourism Board has launched its first-ever rewards program for travel agents.
The newly established program aims to “give something back” to the trade by allowing agents to earn points for each booking involving at least one overnight stay in Belize. An incentive of 100 points per night is being offered to the agents.
In order to be eligible for the points, booking confirmations must be uploaded on the Tourism Board’s trade portal. Points will be awarded based on the date of departure, and once received, they will remain valid for a period of 24 months. Agents can redeem these points for hotel room nights and merchandise.
Evan Tillett, the Director of Tourism, expressed hope that the program would contribute to building stronger trade relationships and show the board’s gratitude for its travel agent partners. “We hugely appreciate our travel advisor community. They’re some of our greatest allies,” he said.
The initiative was designed to not only build a better relationship with travel advisors but also to provide them with necessary support and reward their contributions to promoting tourism in Belize.
The travel agent rewards program comes at a crucial time when the tourism industry worldwide is trying to recover from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. By incentivizing travel bookings to Belize, the Tourism Board is aiming to drive growth and recovery in this essential sector of the country’s economy.
More details about the rewards program, including how to participate and the exact terms of points redemption, are expected to be available soon on the Belize Tourism Board’s website.
