Belize Featured As A Top Wedding Destination

According to “The List” women’s website, a new era of lovebirds are flocking to the tiny Central American country of Belize to say “I Do” and exchange their vows in paradise with a handful of their close family and friends.

The reason for this new era according to the article is caused by a combination of pent-up travel demand caused by the pandemic, coupled with the long halt that was placed on weddings and other social events. With pandemic jitters now out of the way, couples are ready to travel and say “I Do” as was found out by a recent study released by The Wedding Report which found that 2.5 million weddings are scheduled to take place this year.

What’s more, is that another survey conducted by Davids Bridal also found that 55% of respondents aim to go big for their once-in-a-lifetime occasion and intend to pull off a destination wedding as opposed to a traditional ceremony.

The website noted that with so many weddings being planned, couples are having a hard time finding available wedding venues close to their homes. But despite that setback, they have resorted to opening up their searches to other locations outside of their comfort zones, and have set their eyes on Belize.

As a thriving tourist destination, blessed by nature, and considered the jewel of Central America, Belize is considered one of the most perfect wedding destinations for several reasons.

Tips for booking cheap flights to belize

As was pointed out by “The List”, Belize is an easy trip for Americans and among the best options for couples who do not want their families and friends to travel halfway across the globe to witness their special day. Depending on which state you are located, Belize is only about a two to three-hour flight away. Currently, there are short direct flights from Miami, Dallas, Houston, Fort Lauderdale, Chicago, LA, and Denver.

Belize is an English Speaking County

Another reason that makes Belize the perfect wedding destination is that the country is the only English-speaking country in Central America. This means that communicating with locals and hotel staff is as easy as one, two, or three.

With the language barrier out of the way, Belize also accepts US currency at a fixed exchange rate. This means that neither will you have to hassle to figure out payments or have to rush to the bank to change your US currency to local currency.

Tons of Venues to Choose From

Depending on what you have always pictured your dream wedding to be like, Belize provides tons of venues and backdrops. Choose from getting married on the beach, on a private island, on top of an ancient Maya ruin, in nature, or at any of the luxurious resorts that are located across the country. The majority of resorts in Belize also have wedding planners on-site to assist you with all the planning.

Amazing Food

Another stand-out feature for Belize that “The List” also pointed out is that the country, which is home to a melting pot of cultures, pays homage to that aspect through its food. Choose from having an entire pig cooked under the ground and served with corn tortilla cooked to perfection by a traditional Maya family or sample food-to-table options such as freshly caught fish that is seasoned with local herbs and spices that is cooked in a creamy coconut broth, prepared and served by a Garifuna family. Or if you are opting to try tasty Mestizo dishes such as tamales or the famous Belizean rice and beans served with stew chicken, fry plantains, and salad, then those options are also available.
