Belize has won gold in the Most Desirable Emerging Destination category at the 25th annual Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, held at The National Gallery in London.
The awards are decided entirely by travelers. This year, 250,000 Wanderlust readers cast 5.5 million votes across all categories. Prince Harry delivered the keynote address at the ceremony.
The win puts Belize in front of one of the most engaged travel audiences in the world and comes at a key moment for the European market. Air Canada’s seasonal route from Montreal returns on December 6, giving UK travelers same day access to Belize, and Discover Airlines will begin twice weekly flights from Frankfurt in December 2027.
The Belize Tourism Board thanked Wanderlust readers for their votes, calling the honor a major achievement as more travelers discover the country.
For visitors, the award reflects what keeps drawing people back: the Belize Barrier Reef, ancient Maya sites like Xunantunich and Caracol, rainforest adventures in Cayo and a culture shaped by Kriol, Maya, Garifuna and Mestizo communities.
