The captivating landscapes of Belize are set to feature in the upcoming family drama ‘Blood Knot’, starring Hollywood veteran Michael Douglas and his oldest son Cameron. After wrapping up filming in Massachusetts, the production is moving its second unit to Belize and Mexico City this summer.

The film tells the poignant story of a father and son striving to mend their strained relationship, with Michael Douglas’ character inviting his estranged son to participate in a father-son fishing competition in Puerto Rico, in an attempt to reconnect. The movie, helmed by renowned TV director Howard Deutch (‘Empire’, ‘Young Sheldon’), is an adaptation of Bob Rich’s book ‘Looking Through Water’, with a screenplay penned by ‘Road House’ writer Rowdy Herrington.

The film has already garnered attention for its unique narrative structure. A portion of the film, about 20 minutes worth, was shot in Massachusetts and revolves around a grandfather narrating a story to his grandson. The sequences set to be filmed in Belize and Mexico City will expand on this narrative, unfolding the grandfather’s tale through a series of flashbacks.
