Massive Ancient Maya City Unearthed in Belize

Archaeologists have announced the discovery of an expansive ancient Maya city hidden deep within the jungles of Belize. The site, which has been named “Xibalba’s Haven,” is thought to be one of the most extensive and well-preserved Maya settlements found to date.

The discovery was made by a team of researchers from the University of Belize and the Belize Institute of Archaeology. The expedition, led by Dr. Aurora Martinez, stumbled upon the ruins while conducting a remote-sensing survey of the area.
