As global travel continues to make its recovery after being shut down last year due to the pandemic, an increasing number of airlines are restoring previously suspended routes and many of them are adding new ones.

Alaska Airlines, the fifth largest airline in the United States when measured by fleet size, scheduled passengers carried, and the number of destinations served is one of those airlines adding new routes, with its new seasonal flight to Belize.

The new service, scheduled to begin in November 2021, will feature a twice-weekly flight between Seattle (SEA), Washington, and Belize (BZE). The initial flight is scheduled for November 19, after which the flights will continue through the tourism high season and run until May 22, 2022.

The flights departing Seattle will be on Fridays and Saturdays, leaving at 8:30 a.m. and is expected to arrive in Belize at 4:35 p.m. Meanwhile, the return flight from Belize City is scheduled to depart at 11:00 a.m. and is set to arrive in Seattle at 3:55 p.m.

But the airline has done more than add the flight to its offerings, it has also began pushing the flight by including it in several promotions, to get travelers onboard. As part of an ongoing promotion on all flights flown now through December 31, guests will qualify for Alaska’s Fast Track to Status promotion, earning 50 percent more elite-qualifying miles.

The flight to Belize was also featured on the airline’s recent “BOGOTIME”, flash sale on tickets. The event, which was held back in September, gave an extra incentive to those traveling in pairs offering those buying one coach class ticket another ticket on the same flight for just the taxes and fees, with day-of-week restrictions and blackout dates applied.

Apart from being a member of the Oneworld alliance, the third largest airline alliance in the world, Alaska Airlines has managed to maintain the highest customer satisfaction of traditional air for 12 consecutive years according to J. D. Power and Associates.

The airline has increased health and safety protocols aboard its aircraft so passengers can travel with peace of mind, and with Belize recently being named one of the safest places to travel in December 2021 by MSN, those booking flights this year can feel extra secure about taking that long overdue trip.

The Belize Tourism Board reports that travelers from the United States represent over 60 percent of all visitors coming to Belize.
