Belize scores big on TripAdvisor Awards

Belize continues to establish itself as one of the most sought after tourist destinations in the region, capturing four spaces in several categories in the Traveler’s Choice Awards from world renowned travel site, Trip Advisor.

Tourism country-wide has been booming over the past decade, with visitor arrivals increasing, setting or breaking records for the past three consecutive years. Traditionally San Pedro and Placencia, have been destinations which have been doing phenomenal things is the tourism industry, which makes it easy to see why three San Pedro destinations and one Placencia destination made it onto Trip Advisor’s list of Top 25 Hotels in Central America.

Las Terrazas, Victoria House and Coco Beach, all in San Pedro, as well as Belize Ocean Club in Placencia, made it onto the top 25 with stiff competition from countries such as Costa Rica (which has the most entries on the list), Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Guatemala.

Las Terrazas placed 4th, Victoria House placed 8th, Coco Beach placed 11th and Belize Ocean Club placed 25th on the list.

Apart from the spots on the Top Hotels list, the Phoenix Hotel in San Pedro, also boasts second place on the Top Luxury Hotels in Central America. To emphasize that Belize is a tourist destination that has something for everyone, the country also secured three spots on the list for top 10 Family Hotels in Central America.

The Villa Verano in Hopkins placed 3rd on that list, followed by La Perla del Caribe in San Pedro at 6th place, and Grand Colony Island Villas in San Pedro, taking 7th place.

Apart from appetizing foods, and exquisite scenery, Belizean hotels offer service that stands out even among its best competitors. Belize captured nine places in Trip Advisor’s Top 25 Best Service Hotels in Central America. In descending order, those hotels include: 2. Sleeping Giant Lodge – Belmopan; 3. Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort – Placencia; 4. Coco Beach Resort – San Pedro;  7. Belizean Dreams – Hopkins; 11. The Phoenix Resort – San Pedro; 12. Pelican Reef Villas Resort – San Pedro; 15. Xanadu Island Resort – San Pedro; 18. Turneffe Flats – Turneffe Island; 20. El Pescador – San Pedro.

For travelers looking for a romantic destination, Belize offers nine of the 25 Top Romance Hotels in Central America.

Those destinations include: 2. Coco Plum Island Resort – Coco Plum Caye; 5. Belizean Dreams – Hopkins; 6. Sleeping Giant Lodge – Belmopan; 7. Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort; 9. Ka’ana Resort – San Ignacio; 12. Colinda Cabañas – Caye Caulker; 15. Mata Chica Resort & Spa – San Pedro; 16. Victoria House – San Pedro; 19. Thatch Caye Resort – Coco Plum Caye

Belize’s rising popularity extends beyond the Central American region, boasting destinations that are up to world standards. Hamanasi Adventure and dive Resort in Hopkins, Dangriga, scored 20th place on the list of Top 25 Small Hotels in the World. Belize’s romantic allure hasn’t gone un-noticed on the world stage, capturing 9th place on the top 25 Romantic Hotels in the World with Coco Plum Island Resort.
