Island Expeditions celebrates 30 years

Island Expeditions, one of Belize’s premier adventure travel companies specializing in kayaking and snorkeling, is celebrating three full decades showing travelers an amazing adventure in Belize.

Officially opened in 1987, Island Expeditions began by offering paddling tours in the South Water Caye Marine Reserve, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known for being one of the first tour companies in Belize to combine education and adventure, Island Expeditions is famous for all-inclusive paddle sports journeys that explore the best of the reserve.

By its second decade of operations, Island Expeditions began offering paddling trips to the Glover’s Reef Atoll, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. In 2003, the company opened a basecamp on Half Moon Caye, Lighthouse Reef.

Moving into its third decade the company began offering tours venturing into Belize’s interior rainforest. They also began offering year round trips to Belize for all levels of travelers.

“One of our favorite areas to visit year-round is the Mayflower Bocawina National Park.” They said in their anniversary message.

Travelers who book with Island Expeditions are treated to the only guided lodge to lodge paddling and snorkeling journeys in the entire country. They visit the small but breathtaking islands: Tobacco Caye, Southwater Caye and Billy Hawk Caye.  They will enjoy a safe, protected reef setting, where they can comfortably explore uninhabited islands, coral reefs, mangroves and abundant marine life by sea kayak, kayak sail, snorkel or Stand Up Paddleboard.

Travels headed inland, get to visit the savannah for the Tropical Education Center; forest cabanas, interpretive trails and a specially arranged nocturnal tour of the Belize Zoo.

Island Expeditions also offers a year-round adventure to the Southwater Caye Marine Reserve in the Rainforest & Reef Explorer package, which includes a stay in Belize’s tropical rainforest at the Bocawina Rainforest Resort.

“Over the next three months in February, March and April – Island Expeditions will be celebrating this major 30 year milestone with 30% discounts on trips booked to Belize, with new winners announced every week.” The company added.

Apart from offering a one-of-a-kind tourist experience, the company also gives back to Belize, by supporting conservation organizations such as the Belize Zoo and Audubon Society, as well as hosting a program which gives school supplies to children who need them.

Belize Hub congratulates Island Expeditions on its anniversary, and looks forward to their continued promoting of Belize as a premier travel destination.
