The San Ignacio Resort is located in the small town of San Ignacio in the Cayo District. San Ignacio is about 70 miles west of Belize City and only nine miles east of the Guatemalan border. The resort is actually in a 17 acre private estate centrally located in San Ignacio and is family-owned and operated. It has won several awards, including hotel of the year by the Belize tourism board in 2012.

With its lush tropical setting on the hillside by the Macal River, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy luxury and unsurpassed service in a first-class resort. The resort has recently undergone extensive remodeling which features a re-designed lobby bar offering much more space with more choices. Two new suites are in the process of being built and will be completed soon. Their excellent restaurant has recently updated its menu to provide guests with superb cuisine. They have also extended their outdoor seating area to accommodate more guests.

Visitors can also enjoy the resort’s spa which can add a relaxing or re-energizing experience after a fun-filled day out in the jungle or after a full day of business meetings. The spa offers a 60 minute aromatherapy massage or a Swedish full body massage. Treat yourself to a spa facial treatment, pedicure, or manicure to take away your stress and tension.

The Resort has a lighted tennis court with bleachers for tennis enthusiasts. After a match, take a dip in the large crystal clear pool or just lounge out on the patio. It’s the perfect place to read a novel or plan a wedding or party.

The award-winning Green Iguana Conservation Project is one of a kind in BELIZE and is located on-site at the resort. The resort is part of the conservation of the threatened Green Iguana and offers you a close-up of the amazing reptile. As part of the tour, you’ll have a guide take you for a walk through jungle trails where you’ll see a variety of plants and animals in the rainforests. You’ll also hear how the project began and the vision for its future. The Green Iguana, known as “Guana”, has been decreasing in numbers due to a loss of habitat and over-hunting for food. They tend to be friendly and are an herbivorous species, eating berries, fruits, flowers, and leaves.

The San Ignacio Resort has become a favorite place for visitors who love the outdoors and appreciate the beauty of wildlife. Couples and families appreciate the friendliness and amazing service the resort offers. It’s no wonder that once you’ve experienced the San Ignacio Resort, you’ll want to return time and time again.
