The Belize Tourism Board has announced a wave of new developments for 2027 and beyond, including a major cultural exhibit at Caracol, a lineup of boutique and luxury resort openings and the return of a flight route that lets UK travelers reach Belize in a single day.
Te K’ab Chaak Tomb Exhibit coming to Caracol
Leading the new offerings is the Te K’ab Chaak Tomb Exhibit, launching in 2027 at the Caracol Archaeological Reserve. The tomb was discovered during the 2025 archaeological field season and belongs to Te K’ab Chaak, Caracol’s first recorded ruler. The exhibit will showcase rare Early Classic artifacts and elite burial objects, giving visitors a rare look at the origins of Belize’s largest ancient Maya city.
New resorts on the horizon
Belize’s hotel lineup continues to grow with low impact, boutique properties rooted in local culture:
Duna Beach Resort, opening early 2027, is a small coastal escape by The Belize Collection in Hopkins Village.
Four Seasons Resort and Residences Caye Chapel, opening in 2027, sits 16 miles from Belize City and will feature 104 oceanfront rooms, overwater bungalows and a cenote inspired spa.
Six Senses Belize, planned for mid 2028, will be a private island hideaway on Emerald Caye with overwater villas, private residences and wellness experiences built around the surrounding marine environment.
Same day travel from the UK
Air Canada’s seasonal route between Montreal and Belize City returns on December 6, operating weekly on Mondays. The service lets UK travelers fly from London Heathrow and regional UK airports and arrive in Belize the same day, with no overnight connection or transit through the United States.
Minister of Tourism Anthony Mahler said Belize is entering an exciting new chapter centered on authentic, community led experiences and rich heritage. “Highlights like the remarkable Te K’ab Chaak Tomb Exhibit opening at Caracol bring our ancient Maya history to life in a truly profound way,” he said.
Mahler added that the new properties, combined with expanded flight connections through Montreal, mean “it has never been easier or more rewarding to experience Belize’s living cultures, vibrant communities, and pristine environment.”
