Condé Nast Traveler Selects Belize as Best to Travel in 2019
Condé Nast Traveler, a luxury and lifestyle travel magazine, has just selected Belize as a top destination to visit in the upcoming year. With luscious descriptions of Belize’s natural beauty, the year-end round-up of the hottest new destinations from one of the most influential travel magazines in the world is yet another clear sign that it is Belize’s turn to shine in the limelight.
The Condé Nast Traveler round-up gushed over Belize’s coral reef and the number of new luxury resorts that have been opened on some islands, including Gladden Private Island which is owned by Francis Ford Coppola and the Mahogany Bay resort built by Hilton on Ambergris Caye. And the Condé Nast Traveler authors were simply buzzing with excitement about the much-heralded 2020 opening of Blackadore Caye, an eco-resort built on a private island owned by Leonardo DiCaprio.
But it’s not just luxury hotels and resorts which made Condé Nast give Belize the buzz. The travel magazine also noted the lovely charm of the country’s unique melting pot society and the abundance of pristine, natural beauty in the country, photos of which will “soon” be appearing on popular Instagram accounts. Condé Nast also enthusiastically recommended activities like fishing, exploring caves, and visiting ancient Maya temples. Belize was once the heartland of the ancient Maya culture, and more than 600 ancient sites can be visited in the country.
As Condé Nast rightly noted, Belize is unusual in that it is an English-speaking nation surrounded by countries which speak Spanish and that Belize is surprisingly uncrowded. Just a short drive down the coast from Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, Belize has so far managed to escape overcrowding and high-rise hotels.
Condé Nast Traveler isn’t the only premiere travel publication that has selected Belize for their coveted 2019 best destinations lists. Both National Geographic Traveler and Lonely Planet gave high marks for Belize. And the Discovery Channel recently had a two-hour live broadcast direct from Belize, sharing the natural beauty of the country with millions of viewers around the world.
And the best part is that it’s really easy to get to Belize. Five of America’s largest airlines – American, Delta, Sun Country, Southwest, and United – all have non-stop flights to Belize from major cities across the country. And for Canadians, both WestJet and Air Canada fly to Belize, too. Travelers heading to Central America can also get to Belize with non-stop flights Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, and Panama.
