Sample Belize, Sample the Blue Hole Wine

A swirl, a sniff, and a sip of the new Blue Hole Wine are all it takes to propel you into a world of complete ecstasy, that traverses the fine line somewhere between local wine made with the perfect blend of international standard, bottled to perfection.

The Blue Hole Wine, along with its sister flavors, the Belize River Valley Wine and the Gin Berry Wine, all handmade locally by Beverly Dawson the General Manager of the Black Orchid Resort, are all crafted with care and passion from black grapes, that create the perfect product bursting with both flavors and aroma.

In fact, it can be classified as one of the most perfect combinations for wine lovers who have gotten exhausted from visiting the local stores, in search of wine, only to find that the shelves are empty for the past couple of months and thereby limiting their options.

In fact, it was that exact hunger and longing to quench that special thirst that drove Dawson, a regular wine lover into starting her carrier as a winemaker. During the long drawn out pandemic, and with unusually enough time on her hands, Dawson said that she constantly had to be making trips at the stores in her neighborhood to stock up on wines, however much to her dismay she would usually get there too late, or just in time to get a few bottles.

When she realized that it was becoming a problem, Dawson said she started to order wines from her sister in the United States, but then again much to her dismay she found out that they had stopped producing one of her favorite brands, while the others were not to her liking, either being too dry or too sweet. After several days of fussing and complaining, Dawson said that her sister suggested why not make her own wine at home which she could then have complete control over and so she decided that, it was exactly what she would do.

Dawson then ordered herself a couple of wine catalogs, books, and every reading material about wine that she could find and sat down to sponge it all in. Using one of the wine recipe books, Dawson then set out to the neighboring market and store to stock up on her materials, to make herself the perfect batch of wine. As in anything when the first batch of wine was finished Dawson said that they tasted pretty much like wine, while the second batch was a bit too sweet, and the third tasted just perfect. Refusing to give up, Dawson said that she decided that she would give them all enough time to come together and age properly since it is well known that wine matures better with age.

And that it did, one year later when Dawson pop the covers and sampled her products for the first time, she immediately decided that it was too perfect to keep to herself and so she made a decision to share them with other wine aficionados, like herself. She officially started marketing her products in December of last year at the Black Orchid Resort where she described it as a ”big hit,” and something that her guest just couldn’t get enough of.

”My wines are local wine made with international standard because it is not just your typical local wine, because you know if you taste local wine they tend to be a bit too sweet, so my wine is not that, my wine is the right combination of sweet and dry,” said Dawson.
