The Most Epic Belize Vacation Ever!

If you think that you are ready to enjoy the ultimate Belize vacation, then strap on your helmet and get ready for the time of your life. Pioneered by Island Expeditions, the Epic Belize vacation is a multi-sport adventure that will take you from uninhabited offshore islands to tiny villages deep in the jungle.

After flying into Belize City and a quick 15-minute domestic flight, the vacation begins in Dangriga on the southeastern coast, a lively town famous for its karaoke scene and Afro-Caribbean drumming. From there, the adventure begins in earnest with a boat trip to the outer reaches of the Belize Barrier Reef.

After setting up base camp on an uninhabited island, participants will enjoy two full days of amazing water adventures, including snorkeling, sea kayaking, and stand-up paddling. The reef is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to an astonishing diversity of fish, sea turtles, sharks, dolphins, stingrays, and manatees. The water is crystal clear and the white sandy seafloor makes the reef look and feel like an enormous aquarium.

Then it’s time to head back to the mainland. The first stop is at the lush Mayflower Bocawina National Park. The park is in the middle of a vast rainforest, home to animals such as tapirs, giant iguanas, howler monkeys, and jaguars. After setting up at a gorgeous eco-resort (completely self-sustainable and “off the grid”) located deep in the jungle, it’s time to enjoy activities such as flying down a zip line high up in the canopy, rappelling down the side of a waterfall, and a hike deep into the forest.

The next phase of your epic adventure will be traveling through the jungle to reach tiny Maya villages. Locals are completely self-sustained in the jungle, relying on it for their food, clothing, building supplies, and even medicine. The Maya are the living descendants of the ancient civilization that built enormous pyramids, palaces, and ball courts all across Central America.

From there, it’s time to hop aboard a kayak and explore the legendary Moho River, seeing waterfalls, colorful birds, and exotic wildlife along the way. The last day is spent further exploring the watercourses of Belize while learning more about Maya culture. And then it’s off to the airport and back home.
