Living in Belize: The Why, Where, and How

Living in Belize is not only affordable but also healthy. The country enjoys year-round tropical weather and ample sunshine. Belize has the lowest population density of any country in Central America, so there’s lots of pristine nature, exotic wildlife, and beautiful vistas to enjoy.

Belize is also the only country in the region where English is the official language, making it easy to get around and talk to locals. And thanks to direct flights from major cities like Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Miami, it’s really easy to stay in touch with friends and family back home.

How to Live in Belize

The government of Belize makes it easy for expats and retirees to stay in the country. A valid passport will get you 30 days in the country, and all you have to do is pay a small fee (around $25 USD) to get another 30-day renewal. After you’ve completed a year in the country, you’ll be eligible for permanent residency status.

Alternatively, the QRP program allows individuals age 45 along with their families to move to Belize. The QRP program only imposes a minimum residency requirement of 30 days per year.

Why Live in Belize

Whether it’s because your dollar goes further or because you get to enjoy a new lease on life thanks to the great weather, abundance of beautiful nature, and many exciting things to do, it’s easy to see why more and more people are choosing to live in Belize.

Belize is also undergoing a property boom, with prime locations poised to appreciate in value. The government is heavily investing in infrastructure programs, including expanding airports to accommodate international traffic. And double-digit increases in tourism numbers make renting property in Belize a surefire business.

Where to Live in Belize

The premiere expat community in Corozal, Belize is Orchid Bay. Built on the beautiful Bay of Chetumal, Orchard Bay has all the familiar North American comforts in a lovely, Caribbean setting.

Orchid Bay Is a Great Place to Live in Belize

Enrich your life and live intimately amongst tropical warmth, beauty, and tranquility without compromising first world comforts. Orchid Bay is an active community located in Northern Belize that offers modern conveniences in a Caribbean setting. As demand for property in Belize continues to grow, the architects at Orchid Bay have designed additional real estate options, including condominiums and villas that border the pristine Belize water and various homesite layouts.
